Old English reflected the varied origins of the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms established in different parts of Britain. The Late West Saxon dialect eventually became dominant. Middle English was spoken to the late 15th century. However, it is an irregular verb which means that its spelling changes when it is used in sentences reflecting simple past tense V2 or past participle V3. The word is used in a variety of contexts.
