Their Comfort Group is Australasia's biggest mattress and foam manufacturer, with about staff, most of whom are in Australia. It has manufacturing plants in south and west Auckland and brands include the Sleepmaker, Simmons, Dunlopillo, Design Mobel and Serta as well as flexible foam manufacturer Dunlop Foams. Sleepyhead was born in , when Arthur Mudd began a business making kapok mattresses in a small factory shed in Auckland.
He was joined by the brothers' grandfather Sidney Turner, an electrician, who took a half share after Mudd was unable to pay his bills. While the company is now being run on a day-to-day basis by the fourth generation of Turners, when inducted into the Business Hall of Fame last year the brother Graeme and Craig are both still involved in the innovation and growth of the Sleepyhead brand. Satinder contacted the Farmers store where she'd bought the Sleepyhead-brand "Sanctuary" bed.
Farmers and Sleepyhead both sent staff out to look at it. Sleepyhead suspected a manufacturing fault was to blame for the ridge in the bed and took it away for repair. But soon after it was returned, Satinder says the dents re-formed and they were sleeping on the couch once more. Satinder got back in touch with Farmers.
Satinder had given the retailer the opportunity to repair the bed but found this hadn't fixed the problem. Under the CGA, if the product can't be repaired or the failure is substantial, you're entitled to reject it and choose a replacement or a full refund of the purchase price," Maggie says. Satinder wrote to Farmers, advising the store she wanted to reject the bed and get a refund. After some toing and froing, Farmers agreed. The store told us very few people returned beds and it was sorry Satinder and Sam had an unsatisfactory experience.
So why did the problem occur in the first place? Indentations are normal on almost every mattress. However, "pillow-top" mattresses, the type Satinder and Sam had, can be more prone to indentations and ridges. Pillow-top mattresses have a separate layer of padding — made from foam or other soft materials — attached to the mattress and this layer can lose its "bounce back". For her part, Satinder says the experience has put her off pillow-tops and she won't be getting another one. We spent a lot of money on the above bed, and could not be more disappointed.
There is such a high ridge in the middle of the bed, that developed shortly after purchasing. I asked at Harvey Norman if there was anything that could be done and they said no, we just have to sleep on the ridge to try and even out the sagging in the mattress - which is impossible. This is such a fault in the bed, and now were are stuck with a useless bed that we spent a lot of money on.
Have had bed 4 years - warranty for 10 years. Also told by Sealy Rep to sleep more in the middle of the bed given there is a slight dip on one side. What rubbish how can you when there is two in the bed?
Still waiting for them to pick up mattress and inspect it - this is since the beginning of March due to Covid. Waking up in the morning with seized lower back and it happens to the person who happens to get that side. I know we haven't had a replacement or fix yet but I am not holding out much hope as my brother in law has experienced the exact same thing.
He brought his bed because we raved about ours. He however got replacement and it is doing the same thing. Not sure what is going on ; I think we will be biting the bullet and getting another brand. Hi has anyone had any issues with the Sealy range.
I see Sleepyhead reviews are not very great on here. Next bed arrived soft not like a new bed, objected they did nothing. Sent for repair did not last ,sent back again offered replacement. After endless emails, most of which were not answered we had to choose a new type as our bed not made anymore. Only 4 years into a 10 year warranty. We got confused the beds offered did not seem like our old bed but felt pressured to select something.
We felt misguided. Replacement mattress eventually came nothing like the store or our bed mattress sent it back. Sleepyhead say they have fulfilled the warranty. They are harsh - terrible customer Service outcome yet unknown. I know today the salesman will be full of Any advice on tempur or latex mattresses would be great?
