Your name, Uyen , gives you a stable, genial disposition. You have an ability to handle people, to know and sense the feelings of others, and to help them in the solution of their problems. Disliking confrontations, you rely on tact and diplomacy to deal with issues.
You make friends easily because of your affable, courteous, and agreeable qualities. However, you must guard against being influenced and going along with ideas or making promises just to avoid issues.
Relaxation, peace, and harmony mean a lot to you. There are certain organizational and supervisory potentials within your name, but many times you allow lack of confidence or procrastination to spoil your initiative and determination to cope with responsibilities of leadership. Unless these qualities are strengthened by other names you use, you rely on others for encouragement and assurance to carry out your responsibilities and to help you make decisions. You appear self-assured in all circumstances.
You appreciate the finer things of life and a good standard of living. You find great interest in the arts, composition, interior decorating, or music, and enjoy working with people. Being relegated to doing monotonous tasks does not appeal to your sophisticated qualities. You do not welcome strenuous physical activity nor do you enjoy a restricted, rudimentary life. Elegant surroundings, quality attire, these things appeal to your desire for refinement and culture. You want to be financially successful and to enjoy the pleasures that money can buy.
Possessions of high quality are important to you. You are particular about your own appearance as well as the personal appearance of others. This name could affect your health through the kidneys, lower back, female troubles, poor circulation, or over-weight. You enjoy the foods that go along with sociability.
Being very fond of comfort and somewhat passive, you find it a challenge at times to push yourself to go on a diet or to exercise. I added a phonetic way to say it in a way that makes sense in English. The way Vietnamese is spoken is very different than English, so I've slightly altered the pronunciation of my second name Uyen so that it is pronounced 'win' in English, making it easier for most people to pronounce.
Even though I was stepping out of my comfort zone in doing this, I felt the environment and inclusive culture at TD was supporting me in this decision, so when I heard about a video being created for TD colleagues that featured some of our co-workers speaking about their decision to start using their true, ethnic name or sharing stories about their names, I knew that I wanted to be a part of it.
I knew that I wanted to share the story behind my name, the name that my father had put so much thought into. Culturally, I am much more accustomed to not voicing many of my views and to speaking in a soft voice, but this was important to me. My name is important to me. It serves as a key identifier of who I am.
When pronounced correctly, it conveys respect and inclusion. The video has been published internally for thousands of colleagues to see. For almost everyone — even those with whom I work closely — it was the first time they had ever heard my name stated the way it is intended. Being in this video is a huge step and makes me feel vulnerable. I haven't yet told my parents about it or how I am insisting people use my correct name, but I've realized that this is one small way that I can be more of an ally in creating a more inclusive culture.
None of this would have been possible for me if I also hadn't felt supported by the inclusive and diverse culture at TD, so I am grateful for the opportunity to be brave, to step out of my comfort zone and take up more of the space I am owed for the benefit of everyone, regardless of race or ethnicity.
You are now leaving our website and entering a third-party website over which we have no control. Good Sense of Humor. Extremely weird but in a good way. Loves to joke. Silly, fun and sweet. Uyen is lovely. Uyen can be a little violent to people who piss her off, but to her friends she's the quirky person who typically loves to read.
Don't mess with uyen , but you'll be happy to have her as a friend. She's so funny , she's one of my best friends, she's uyen. They can be tough at times but Uyen have your back.
